Craniosacral therapy for infants

Craniosacral therapy (CST) is a gentle, non-invasive form of bodywork that involves the use of light touch to manipulate the bones of the skull and spine, with the aim of releasing tension and promoting relaxation in the body. In infants, CST can be used to address a variety of issues, such as colic, sleep disturbances, feeding difficulties, and developmental delays.

During an infant craniosacral therapy session, the practitioner will use a light touch to assess the baby's cranial and spinal structures, looking for areas of tension or restriction. The practitioner may then use gentle pressure and manipulation to release areas of tension or restriction, allowing the baby's body to self-correct and heal. CST can be a useful tool for caregivers looking for a non-invasive way to address their baby's health concerns, and can be safely used alongside other forms of healthcare.

For a craniosacral session, I gather a thorough background of the baby and caregiver, as well as what you notice about the baby’s movement and patterns with sleeping, eating, crying, digestion, etc. The hands on treatment can be done while a baby is being held by their caregiver or the practitioner, or laying on a mat. Craniosacral work can even be done while baby is feeding or sleeping!
